Marsha ambrosius moments in love8/13/2023 Morgan got to work doing just that the next year, when she launched the class “The Pleasure Principle: A Post-Hip-Hop Search for a Black Feminist Politics of Pleasure” at The Institute for Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University. What we’re less good at and have been less successful at is developing a language for pleasure and to assert a right to pleasure.” “Our sexuality is written about in a way that is historically problematized for obvious reasons. “I think that a politics of pleasureparticularly for black feminists and brown feministsis so incredibly important,” she said. Morgan never spoke about Miguel, but you can see the corollary in what’s missing. It was a missed opportunity for women to stake their claim to pleasure, to their tantamount ownership of the male organthat is, if they wanted it. It’s telling, though, that the self-explanatory title’s proclamation came and went without a rebuttal from a female R&B counterpart. None was more titillating than “Pussy Is Mine,” a playfully arousing track from Miguel’s Kaleidoscope Dream. That same year, big R&B releases from Frank Ocean, Usher, Rihanna and The Weeknd offered different R&B-oriented views on sexual pleasure. Speaking with Neal, Morgan posited that there’s a prevalent belief that feminists are allergic to their own pleasure. A renowned feminist thinker and self-described “unashamed hedonist,” Morgan penned the groundbreaking 1999 book, When Chickenheads Come Home to Roost: My Life As a Hip-Hop Feminist. In 2012, Joan Morgan broached that very subject as a guest on Left of Black, the webcast of Duke professor Mark Anthony Neal. Politics of propriety had invaded the bedroom yet again female pleasure remained policed. She sang about “graining on that wood” and putting both legs “back on your head.” Some proclaimed that this new sexual energy stemmed from Beyoncé exposing her Sasha Fierce alter ego to elevated levels of feminism and sexual liberation others proclaimed it was due to Beyoncé’s “healthy” marriage to Jay Z, which made safe grounds for a monogamous, family-oriented, mega-pop star to sing about adult topics about which single men boast all the time.īut what about non-married women like Ambrosius, who might be looking for the occasional hook-up or the wild dalliance? Could those women have the same carte blanche to sing about sex without being dismissed for lascivious ways? Feminist sexual liberation came to Beyoncé’s aid, leaving little room to think more broadly about female eroticism in R&B music. Last year, Beyoncé, one of the world’s biggest pop stars, sashayed toward similarly explicit material with her self-titled surprise LP. The characteristic is no distraction - put to use with less frequency and typically in service to the song, not purely for show. The best of INDY Week’s fiercely independent journalism about the Triangle delivered straight to your inbox. Those who could not get into the Floetry albums due to Ambrosius' occasionally tremulous delivery should have no problem this time. Two nice surprises come with a deadly, faithful cover of Portishead's "Sour Times" and a bright version of "Butterflies," the song she and Andre Harris wrote for Michael Jackson. The song that follows, "Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)," temporarily shifts the tone with some cleverly spiteful language over Ambrosius' sparkling production. In a way, Late Nights & Early Mornings picks up where 2005's Flo'Ology, left off, as much of it is in the vein of that album's slow, steamed-up songs like "Lay Down" and "Imagination." Ambrosius makes the point early, opening the album with a pair of stellar modern quiet storm numbers in the bare "With You" (written with Alicia Keys) and the 1984-1985 Prince-channeling title song (produced and co-written by Rich Harrison). Just a few months after her Floetry partner, Natalie Stewart, released Floetic Soul, Marsha Ambrosius issued her own solo album.

Release dates for new anki cars8/13/2023 The cars are 1/43 scale, close to O gauge trains, and go well with these scale models. Digital Dream Labs has run a very successful Kickstarter campaign as well as two other funding campaigns and appears to be in good shape for the near future. However, little information is available on this new racing system. They announced a new racing system called, “Infini Drive” that will be compatible with Overdrive. Digital Dream labs also repairs old Anki Drive and Overdrive cars. These will be available for purchase again in the Spring of 2021. In December 2019, the company Digital Dream Labs, a game/education focused company, acquired the rights to Anki technology and began supporting their robots, Cosmo and Vector. Soldering can also be a fun hobby to build circuit boards and other electronics. A soldering iron can be used to remove the leads, pull out the battery, and solder in a fresh new battery. The 3.7V 75 mAh battery used by Anki has + and – leads that are soldered into the main board to provide the cars with power. There are online tutorials for replacing the batteries. Vector, Cosmo and Overdrive bought now, may not work unless the batteries are replaced. The batteries may not hold a charge this long. Thus, cars bought in January 2021 could be almost 2 years old. Because Anki shut down in May 2019, the last production run would have been prior to this date. They are high powered, rechargeable batteries that should last several years when properly maintained. The batteries are “hard-wired” into the Overdrive cars and robots. The cars and robots use Lithium Polymer Batteries ( ). The company was unable to secure funds for their long-term goals. The toys were meant to be a development tool. Anki ultimately failed, it seems, because the interest of the founders lay in developing advanced AI and robotics, not toys. This same year, Anki released the toy robot, “Cosmo.” Cosmo was a huge success. Anki Overdrive feels your need for speed Physical fucktoys that connect to smartphone apps are a way to break free of the purely virtual world of movie games, and to add a high-tech hook to traditional playthings. 2015 saw the release of the upgrade to Drive, the new and improved “Overdrive.” Overdrive was also a top seller. Drive became the #2 selling toy on Amazon in 2014. In the fall of 2013, they released their first product, a toy racing game called “Drive” that used a phone app to drive infrared sensing cars around a track imprinted on a mat. Their aim was to develop Robotics and AI Technology, such as robotic assistants and self-driving vehicles. Anki was founded in 2010 by a few Robotics Engineers who met at Carnegie Mellon. “Overdrive” is the name of a car racing game created in 2015 by the ex-company Anki. Part time doctor vs8/13/2023 Many evenings she finds herself still working in the office, long after her male co-workers have gone home. Some researchers say female doctors spend more time with their patients, because patients have higher expectations of them.Īllen says she feels it's important to ask about her patients' home lives. "When you look at how many minutes they are spending with their patients over a year, female physicians are spending 20 hours more - despite the fact that they're seeing fewer of them, and they're earning less money," Neprash says. Some researchers hypothesize that female physicians are more likely to work part-time, which they argue could account for the difference in pay, Neprash says. Another s tudy published earlier this year found that in their very first jobs after training, male physicians earned about $36,000 more, on average, than their female counterparts. In one 2016 study, researchers found that the median salary for male physicians in the United States was almost $86,000 more per year than the median salary for female physicians in the early 2010s. They also depend on medical specialty and the region of the country where doctors practice. Shots - Health News Pay, But Not Equity, Improves For Female AnesthesiologistsĮstimates of pay equity between men and women in medicine vary widely, since they're mostly based on what doctors themselves report. Often patients come in for a straightforward medical concern, and I find myself discussing how stressed out they are about child care, or how hard it's been to pay the bills on time during the COVID-19 crisis. I'm a female primary care physician, and I often spend time asking about my patients' families and work, before we talk about their blood pressure or birth control. This could account for why female physicians are paid less than men, Neprash argues: They actually spend more time with patients. healthcare system where most insurance companies pay doctors based on the number of patients they see - not how much time they spend with them - this means that women physicians generated about 11% less annual revenue for their practices than their male colleagues. As a result, they saw fewer patients over the course of a year. They compared male and female physicians not just throughout the country, but within the same practices, which helped control for regional variations in the number of patients doctors are expected to see in a day.įemale primary care physicians spent about 15% more time with patients in each visit compared to male primary care physicians. To cut down on the number of staff members you’ll need in the future, begin exploring ways to attract and retain more experienced staff members.Using "timestamps" that track when patients check in and out, Neprash and her team analyzed exactly how long primary care doctors spent with their patients. If this number is over 30 percent, it may explain why your staffing levels are high. If your staffing ratio is high compared to the identified benchmarks, figure the percentage of staff members who have been with your organization for less than one year. Those staff members who have been with the practice for two or more years are likely to perform their jobs more efficiently, to look ahead at what needs to be done, to make decisions on their own and to relieve the doctor of some low-level tasks. New employees generally require more time to perform routine tasks and responsibilities than do veteran workers. If the practice’s employee-turnover rate is high, that usually means the practice is functioning in “training” mode a large portion of the time. Practices also should bear in mind that the experience and expertise of their support staff will often have an effect on the number of support staff needed.

Brother bear sing along songs dvd8/12/2023 Also, if you happen to have the UK VHS of Disney Sing Along Songs: From Hercules, please upload this too as all the other versions I have found online appear to be from the same low quality source. I may have missed it, but if you have the US laserdisc of Very Merry Christmas Songs/The Twelve Days of Christmas, I look forward to seeing it. Personally I prefer MKV over AVI (MPG is also preferred over AVI because I can use Quicktime Player on the Mac to trim off the opening and closing of your laserdiscs without quality loss)- the ISO and MKV provide me with a master backup, and the MKV allows me to make a higher quality MP4 version with better quality settings in Handbrake than the MP4s you upload- I can then use the MP4 for general use in iTunes where I can use other software to add a full range of metadata. A few other notes on your other releases. I hope that you are able to do this with your other DVD uploads (I'll keep checking back) because the other Video-ts folder way you have been doing it doesn't appear to work as perhaps you intend. I knew because I used to own it on DVD before I sold my old DVDs. Maybe you can create an ISO version in the future direct from the DVD? AUGUPDATE: Thank you so much for newly uploading the ISO Elijah. UPDATE: Despite your new instructions Elijah, it didn't work- it was still in the wrong order. ĭownloaded the files, created an ISO but it appears to be in the wrong order.

Flume album deluxe8/12/2023 Now I’ve figured out how to create the inspiration, but I used to have to wait for it. I was doing a lot of bike riding around the city and just exploring, and I just get really creative and really inspired from exploring. He sent me back some vocals it just came together online. “I was in Maastricht, in the Netherlands, staying with a friend, and I sent Nick a demo that I was working on. Looking back, it is pretty interesting to see how that record did influence a lot of music, especially in Australia at the time.” I felt like I knew that there was something special here when I made it, but I didn’t expect it to travel how it traveled. Those samples fueled a lot of the record. It came together pretty quickly I was just super inspired by all of these amazing vocals and things that he gave me on this hard drive. I found that Otis Redding sample in there and just started messing around with it at home in my little bedroom studio. He's also on Future Classic, and he gave me this folder of all these classic soul vocal samples. “I went to my friend's studio-Michael Di Francesco, Touch Sensitive. I was super inspired, went home that night to a little Airbnb, and wrote that beat.” Beautiful place-it's super old, lots of castles. “Sintra was named after a place in Portugal called Sintra. It’s been a wild ride.” Here Streten walks through his favorite tracks on Flume. It was intense at a young age to have all that happen. Ironically, I ended up playing in clubs a lot after that, when it started to take off. The Flume stuff was just a bit of fun, a creative outlet for me to make stuff that wasn't for the club. “I had another project at the time called What So Not, which was more club stuff, and that was my main focus. “It was quite a shock as it was really just my side project,” he says. Streten is surprised by how much his debut album blew up when it was released in 2012. It wasn’t until a couple months after that first gig that he won a demo contest, got signed by Future Classic, and left his job to focus entirely on what soon became an incredibly successful career. From that moment, I started to look at it differently-I always thought that I was okay at doing music and I had fun doing it, but I never really thought I could actually make a career out of it.” Real name Harley Streten, the producer was still living at home in Manly and waiting tables at Hard Rock Cafe. I remember it being so flooring and surreal. After the show, I was on the way out and I met someone on the stairwell who was a fan and we just had a chat. “I had my first fan interaction after my first gig,” Flume tells Apple Music, recalling his first performance in August 2011.
